A series of debates organized by SAR in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung at the Continental Hotel, Bucharest, aiming to discuss on the parties manifestos on key domains as: Fiscal and Health Policy, Culture, Judiciary, Education, Transportation Policies.





2.  “Enlarging to the Balkans. Romania and Bulgaria: The Year After”, SAR EVENT IN BRUSSELS - December 4-5, 2003

The Romanian Academic Society, German Marshall Fund of the United States and Centre for European Reform organized the workshop: “Enlarging to the Balkans. Romania and Bulgaria: The Year After”. The workshop took place on December 5, 2003 at the International Press Center in Brussels.

The purpose of the roundtable was to debate publicly the state of preparedness of Romania and Bulgaria to become NATO and EU members. The Romanian Academic Society, together with the Center for Liberal Strategies (CLS Bulgaria) prepared background materials for discussion, and the officials present from the two countries gave their views, especially in respect to the 2003 regular reports of the European Commission.

3. Reinventing Social Science in Eastern Europe, May 7, 2002

Brief: When: May 7, 2002. Who: The Romanian Academic Society in co-operation with Goethe Institute Romania Where: Goethe Institute, Bucharest Why: to discuss the problems facing the reinvention of social science in Eastern Europe after the fall of Communism, with a focus on Romania.

 Workshop on Democratization. Balkan Exceptionalism or Theory Failure? Unsettled Matters of the Democratization in Eastern Europe.

 Brief: When: May 6, 2002. Who: The Romanian Academic Society in co-operation with New Europe College Bucharest Where: NEC Hq. str. Plantelor nr. 21 sector 2 Why: discussions on the theme and also group meeting for the BlueBird nation-state UNDP group.

4. Transatlantic Forum on the Role of Think Tanks in the New Millennium, May 3-5, 2002

Who: Romanian Academic Society with the financial support from American Cultural Center, British Council, Goethe Institute, Freedom House, German Marshall Fund, New Europe College Bucharest Where: at the Best Western Savoy Hotel Constanta, Black Sea Coast in Romania. Why: to bring together Eastern and Western public policy experts and managers; to foster discussions on potential partnerships and common projects between regional NGOs, to discuss the role of NGO's as genuine partners in policy-making within the region
