Call for Papers, Vol. 14, No. 2 (Winter 2014) – Peace building and development

Peace building and development are increasingly of interest in international relations. In addition, more and more attention is being given to electoral phenomena in developing and post-conflict countries. In this sense, comparative politics goes back to the earlier debates on the political systems of developing countries, focusing as well on their increasing experimentation with regime change and democratization. While the interest in the experience of developing countries grows, the related academic debates continue their contradictory nature in engaging with the current practices in development, such as the emergence of new donors, changes in donor behaviour, policy coherence in how development aims are supported or not by trade or political policies and practices, and, not least, the success of the Millennium Development Goals and the formulation of their successors, the Sustainable Development Goals. A further issue to consider would be the question whether development studies as a discipline is dead as Sylvia Maxfield (2006) was pointing out or is it gaining momentum as development topics resurge in other disciplines and policy areas? The Romanian Journal of Political Science invites authors to engage with the above topics in the upcoming, winter 2014 issue.
